MT 2 is a synthetic peptide developed to mimic the effects of the natural hormone alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone (α-MSH). The peptide was initially developed as a tanning agent, but its ability to activate melanocortin receptors in the brain, which are involved in sexual arousal, made it a candidate for enhanced libido and ED treatment.
